Since I’m a holistic health counselor, my blog,Veggiegirl.com, focuses on nutrition and healing.  Food can be very healing, but if you’re eating the wrong thing, it can also be very damaging. Everyone is biologically different and one person’s medicine can be another person’s poison, so even if someone thinks they are eating healthy foods, they can actually be causing harm. There are so many mixed messages about food in our world today, and I try to help people make healthy decisions. It isn’t always easy, and I often share my own health issues, such as food allergies and sinus problems.

I also really love to cook and show people how healthy and delicious vegan food is, so there’s quite a lot of food porn on Veggiegirl.com. I hear people say that they want to go vegan but don’t know what to eat, or they tell me that cooking is too hard. I say it’s not difficult at all and there’s such a huge variety of things to eat once you open up to trying new things. My goal is to let people know that whipping up a nutritious vegan meal can be quick and easy, and I encourage everyone to play in the kitchen and get creative with their food.

My love of food and cooking has caused me to accumulate a huge amount of cookbooks, so I am currently cooking my way though them. 2011 is the year of my Cookbook Project. I pick a different book every week and make at least 3 recipes from it, and I review the book every Friday. This is a lot of fun and I don’t think I’ve made the same meal twice this year!

I occasionally review a local restaurant I’ve eaten in, post photos from one of my group’s potlucks or talk about local goings-on. I also love cats and crafts, and occasionally they sneak into a post.
