Isn’t it frustrating to log onto Twitter on a Monday morning and realize you’ve missed a vegan festival or event in your area? While all your veg friends are tweeting about the vegan pizza slices and raw dessert cakes, you sat home oblivious to the fact that an event was occurring!
Well now, with your help, there will soon be an app to prevent that.
At Vegan Mainstream, we know that for many people, the transition to veganism can be difficult. We’ve all been through it! We believe one major factor in helping new vegans stick with their choice and thrive with the vegan lifestyle is support and community from other vegans. VegFests, Meetups, potlucks, social nights and other veg events bring vegans, vegetarians and veg-curious people together to provide a support system and create a community.
Through events, vegans share ideas, learn about unique vegan foods, swap recipes, make friends and network.
To help promote these events and raise awareness about the vegan lifestyle, we want to create a WORLDWIDE centralized list of vegan events available as a mobile app AND a website directory.
The mobile app will be free and allow the user to search events by city and/or event date. Event details as well as optional comments and rankings will be available. Events can easily be submitted to the directory from the mobile app.
The website will also serve as a resource for in-depth event information. Both the app and the website will allow users to share the event on social media sites.
To create this app, we’ve launched a KickStarter project to raise the funds necessary to hire a coder to create the app and a designer to craft the website directory.
