Christy Morgan, The Blissful Chef

Christy Morgan, The Blissful Chef

Christy Morgan, aka The Blissful Chef, has been tantalizing taste buds for years as a vegan chef, cooking instructor, food writer, and cookbook author. Christy’s mission is to show that a whole food plant-based diet can be delicious, easy and will bring more energy and bliss into your life! In January she is launching her brand new online wellness program! Her fun and informative classes teach amateurs and seasoned veterans alike how to create simple yet delicious, sustainable, “green” meals using local organic produce and seasonal cooking techniques. Check out our recent interview with Christy below, and enter to win her promotion for VM Readers – a free spot in her January class! To enter leave a comment telling Christy how she can help you improve your health for the new year.

Vegan Mainstream: Can you tell our readers, in a short paragraph what the Wellness Reboot is all about?

Christy Morgan: Wellness Reboot is a 28-day online wellness program. It’s an accumulation of all that I’ve learned both in culinary arts and in over 10 years in the health and wellness field. The program includes more than 12 videos on cooking techniques, a 28-day meal plan of delicious whole food plant-based recipes, a Getting Started Guide that explains everything one would need to know about eating healthy and living a plant-based lifestyle, continual support from me through a private Facebook group, and bi-weekly conference calls. Not only all of this but I’ve partnered with an amazing vegan personal trainer, Chad Byers of Beyond Fit, to include a fitness element to the program, so you’ll get a workout that’s easy to do at home, along with workout videos. It’s unlike any other online program!

VM: You’ve done a lot of different things in your vegan career so far; why the Wellness Reboot – and why now?

CM: My mission has always been to empower others to take control of their health. The way to do that is through diet and lifestyle changes, but most importantly by cooking yourself delicious plant-based meals. I’ve taught cooking classes for the last 7 years and this program gives me the chance to connect and help others across the globe that may not be able to take a class with me in person.

VM: Who are you hoping to reach with this program, and how?

CM: This program is great for those who are ready to transition to a healthier way of eating and living. Whether you’ve made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight, or maybe you have a health condition you would like to treat naturally, or maybe you recently switched to a plant-based diet but need guidance, this program is for you. It’s also for those who have already made the switch to a vegan diet but need help in the kitchen. I think many people in my generation (and beyond) never learned how to cook, and then when you switch to eating plant-based it’s a whole new way of cooking.

VM: Why have you decided to structure the reboot as something you do in a small group setting? (and can you talk about how you are using technology to make this possible?)

CM: By offering a program of this magnitude in a small group and all online it gives more people a chance to complete the program at an affordable price. Not everyone can afford to hire me to come to their house to teach them in person, so they get that experience through videos online, conference calls and tons of content housed in a member’s only section of the website. Keeping it a small group allows me to give detailed attention to each person and when everyone shares information and their experiences we all benefit and grow. And it’s just more fun to do something with a group! I even give a discount if you want to find a buddy to do the program with you.

VM: Part of the offering of the Wellness Reboot is for businesses. Can you talk about why you decided to go in that direction, rather than staying with offerings for individuals?

CM: Right now we are working with individuals and hope to add a similar corporate program as well. It’s so important for businesses to take their employees’ health seriously. When you have happy, healthy employees everyone benefits. You can improve the health of your employees, reduce healthcare costs, and cultivate a more effective workforce with our corporate wellness programs. Combining both the body and the mind, our program is different than others. We empower your employees to take charge of their health and wellness with methods that are proven for success.

VM: Tell us about the promo!

CM: I’d like to give one spot in the January Reboot to one of your lucky readers, which starts January 6th! Leave a comment telling us how we can help you improve your health for the new year – and sign up for my email list for a bonus entry! We’d love for you to visit our Facebook page for wellness tips and stay in touch via Twitter.

The idea of creating simple, good dishes is what I really want.

Hey Christy. I’m always open for fresh new ideas. It’s so hard to get stuck in a cooking rut, so could use some inspiration.

  • Deborah

Hey Christy. Well you have already inspired me. I regularly read your blog and cook meals from your cookbook several times a week. I would love to reboot to kick things up to an even higher level.

I struggle so much on the fitness side, and the idea of getting that incorporated with appropriate nutrition will very much help me meet my marathon goal of 2013!

I have been eating a primarily vegan diet for the past two years and I’ve lost about 15 lbs. However, I am still 30 lbs overweight and I’d like to lose the rest by further improving my diet.

I’ve been vegan now for 4 months but i’m still not sure i’m doing it quite right. I’m a graduate student so my life gets really crazy and things like diet and exercise can get pushed aside. I went vegan to help with my firbomyalgia, so I also have that in the mix. Overall I have a lot of things going on and a lot of questions!

    I
am the mother of a beautiful little girl named Mackenzie and the lucky
wife to my husband Mike. For the past 7 years I’ve been living with
pre-cancerous cells. I’ve had to have invasive and painful procedures
twice a year every year. Nothing has worked to eradicate these cells.
This year we were told that my only option would be to have a
hysterectomy or to continue with my twice a year painful treatments. I
did my research and decided to take matters into my own hands. I decided
I would heal my body from the inside out. I was not going to let them
continue with a treatment that hasn’t worked, enough is enough. On this
journey of self healing, I have fallen in love with nutrition, fitness,
holistic ways and alternative medicine. I am very green when it comes to all of this, I try and try every day to educate myself but there are so many conflicting research out there. It seems that in the world of nutrition you can have opposing views on a product, diet, or fad and somehow both views can prove how they are right and the other is wrong. I would like to finally have some direction and support, and this Wellness Reboot program sounds to be exactly what I need. The perfect program to help my body heal itself and get to optimal health. Thank you !

I feel like I am dying. It’s a weird feeling, but I think it’s because I am so tired and in pain every day. My boyfriend is tired and in pain every day as well. We are both overweight. I am 50 and he is 45. My kids are worried about me and I would like to be around for grandkids, but I would also like to be healthy enough to play with them! If we can do this, then I am sure anyone can! I just need some direction. A reboot would be amazing, and we could be poster children for the “its never too late” philosophy! We would definitely spread the word of whatever lifestyle changes we are able to accomplish. Thank you so much for considering us! (Keeping my fingers crossed!)

Just having a community–even an online one– to keep me accountable is what I need. It’s too easy to let myself “sneak” when it’s just me. Thanks for making this space available.

Trying to make permanent changes in your eating habits is hard by yourself, it’s too easy to fall back into bad habits. I think having a group’s support for the first month while resetting my habits would be such a huge help. Wanting to change is easy, it’s the doing that’s hard, and not feeling alone while making these changes would, I think, make the transition slightly easier. :)

I recently watched the documentary Vegucated and have decided I can no longer ethically eat meat or consume dairy. I am wanting to adopt a vegan diet but am not sure where and how to start. This program seems like it is just what I am looking for. I am greatful for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway. Thank you for your generosity.
